About the position

This COOP opportunity at Kratos SRE in Birmingham, AL, involves a three-semester commitment where students will rotate between working and attending school. The role supports engineers in test preparation, data analysis, and presentation, focusing on materials assessment for aerospace propulsion systems and hypersonic flight applications. Students will gain hands-on experience in hardware design and test development, collaborating closely with engineers and laboratory personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Design test hardware using solid modeling software.
  • Prepare tests including drawings, text requests, and documentation.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data.
  • Develop laboratory test methods.
  • Assist other employees as assigned.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
  • Completed freshman year in aerospace, mechanical, or materials engineering
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work well with others in a dynamic environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated to continually expand knowledge and skills related to this position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completed sophomore year in aerospace, mechanical, or materials engineering
