About the position

The Engineering Supervisor at Alila Napa Valley is responsible for leading a team to maintain all equipment, systems, and building components within the hotel. This includes overseeing mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and ensuring safety and security protocols are followed. The role requires a hands-on approach to maintenance and repairs, as well as training staff on safety procedures and emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team and maintain all equipment, systems, and building components including mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and locks.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and train staff on safety and emergency procedures.
  • Respond to emergencies and oversee the Safety & Security department.
  • Supervise necessary repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules and policies to ensure an efficient department.
  • Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools, monitoring distribution to the team.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment for defects and operational issues.
  • Ensure daily meter readings are taken and evaluate consumption.
  • Assist the Director of Engineering in supervising and training all Engineers in guest service and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment is inspected and certified per Hyatt standards.
  • Assist with major projects and administration of vendor contracts controlled by the engineering department.

Requirements

  • Strong background in HVAC, refrigeration, VRF systems, boilers, steam rooms, kitchen appliances, plumbing, electrical, laundry, painting, and carpentry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with guests and team members.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Experience in hotel maintenance and operations.
  • Familiarity with safety and emergency procedures in a hospitality environment.
