About the position

As an Engineering System Administrator at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), you will play a crucial role in managing and supporting our advanced computing environments. This position is designed to be primarily onsite, requiring you to work from an HPE office. Your responsibilities will include understanding and supporting GPU software packages, installing and upgrading servers with Linux operating systems, and configuring network switches to ensure optimal performance within our labs. You will be tasked with setting up multiple root partitions and installing various operating system versions, as well as updating DNS entries and configuring systems to comply with HPE's network security protocols. In addition to these technical responsibilities, you will be expected to maintain virtual servers using VMware vSphere and manage high-performance clusters with High-Performance Cluster Manager (HPCM) software. Your expertise will also extend to storage arrays, where you will install enclosures and drives, replace failed drives, and rebuild new ones as necessary. Familiarity with Lustre file systems and workload managers such as SLURM and PBS is essential, as is some knowledge of shell and Perl scripting, Ansible, and container software. Effective communication is key in this role, as you will need to convey information clearly both verbally and in writing. You will be expected to handle customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and efficiency, ensuring a high level of customer service. Your problem-solving skills will be put to the test as you break down complex issues into manageable components and work towards innovative solutions. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality will be paramount as you monitor and improve the systems you manage. Responsibilities

  • Understand and support GPU software packages, installation, and support.
  • Image and upgrade servers with Linux OS, update firmware, and configure switches for lab environments.
  • Set up multiple root partitions and install various OS versions on the partitions.
  • Update DNS entries and configure systems to operate on the HPE network according to security protocols.
  • Maintain virtual servers using VMware vSphere.
  • Install and maintain clusters using High-Performance Cluster Manager (HPCM) software.
  • Install storage arrays, enclosures, and drives; replace failed drives and rebuild new ones.
  • Support Lustre file systems and manage software installs and upgrades.
  • Manage workload using SLURM and PBS.
  • Utilize shell & Perl scripting, Ansible, and container software as needed.

Requirements

  • Technical Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 8 years related experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years experience.
  • Expertise in Linux operating systems and general knowledge of networks.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to generate new ideas and encourage innovation.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle service problems efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
