About the position

The Engineering Technician at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company plays a crucial role in supporting mechanical and electrical needs within a manufacturing environment. This position involves assisting maintenance with troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and project support, while also ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The technician will utilize CAD software for design tasks and coordinate various engineering projects to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance with advanced troubleshooting and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Confer with engineers and internal customers to discuss engineering projects and products.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical control and distribution systems.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks.
  • Direct and coordinate specification, fabrication, construction, installation, and testing activities.
  • Perform detailed calculations to ensure compliance with codes and best practices.
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations for compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment.
  • Oversee project production efforts to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Plan and coordinate plant electrical systems for reliability and capacity.
  • Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
  • Develop budgets estimating labor, material, and construction costs.
  • Compile data and write reports regarding engineering studies and projects.

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Electrical/Electronics Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of practical application of engineering and science technology.
  • Knowledge of machines, including design, uses, and troubleshooting.
