About the position

The Engineer III position at Caribe Royale Orlando Hotel involves performing general repairs, preventative maintenance, and other routine work throughout the hotel as needed. This role is crucial in ensuring that the hotel maintains its high standards of service and safety, particularly as it operates under the AAA 4+ Diamond Resort classification. The Engineer III will work closely with the Engineering management team to achieve departmental goals and uphold the hotel's reputation for excellence. Candidates for this position should possess a professional demeanor and have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a hotel or a directly related industry. A strong knowledge base in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems is required, along with an understanding of hotel fire standards and procedures. The role demands the ability to work independently, exercising sound judgment to resolve personnel and production issues with minimal supervision. Physical demands of the job include performing rigorous tasks such as working from ladders, maneuvering under equipment, and handling awkward materials or apparatus. The Engineer III will also be required to operate a motor vehicle as part of their duties. The position requires adherence to Occupational Health & Safety regulations and the ability to communicate effectively in English, with a second language being a plus. Overall, the Engineer III plays a vital role in maintaining the physical integrity of the hotel, ensuring that all repairs and maintenance tasks are completed to the highest standards, thereby contributing to the overall guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs of physical property, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, ensuring methods, materials, and practices meet company standards and local and national codes.
  • Repair hotel guest rooms as assigned under the Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Report broken or misused equipment to Engineering Manager or Director.
  • Ensure that safety systems are operable and follow Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the department's inventory by reporting needed supplies.
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet, product labeling, proper storing, and handling of materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a hotel or directly related industry.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems is required.
  • Knowledge of hotel fire standards and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate in the English language; second language is a plus.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques, and use of equipment/machinery.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends, including overnight shifts.
  • Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a large hotel environment preferred.
