The Engineering Technician 3 position involves a diverse range of technical engineering duties that support professional engineers in various capacities. This role includes responsibilities such as drafting, conducting engineering calculations, surveying, testing materials and soils, inspecting construction sites, designing roadways, managing right-of-way engineering, and overseeing planning, permitting, and inspection processes. The technician will also engage in water rights appropriation and land acquisition, all of which are essential components of civil or related professional engineering work. The incumbent will apply technical engineering skills, methods, and practices to compile technical data, utilize computer-aided design software, operate specialized equipment, and prepare engineering-related documents. Under general supervision, the technician will perform these duties at a journey level, demonstrating a high degree of independence and judgment in executing assignments. Responsibilities include planning and executing projects, coordinating with engineers and other technicians, and managing engineering functions within the office. The position requires the technician to prioritize their work effectively, adhere to established procedures and standards, and report on project progress as required by management. The technician will also engage in specialized technical engineering work of an advanced nature, functioning with minimal supervision and making independent decisions. Specific tasks include reviewing and processing Reports of Conveyance to update water right ownership, assisting the public with title-related inquiries, and supporting Water Resource Specialists with technical reviews of water right applications and maps. Additionally, the technician will conduct annual fieldwork to collect water level data and perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.
