About the position

The Engineering Technician 4 at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division provides technical support to engineers on various tasks, including data management, documentation production, and engineering evaluations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of technical processes and the ability to work with minimal supervision, often serving as a lead worker and resource for others.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
• Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data.
• Produces engineering documentation, reports, and drawings such as flow charts and schematics.
• Performs detailed mathematical calculations and preliminary analyses of data.
• Conducts tests and records data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
• May assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of lower-level employees.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Self-starters and self-motivated individuals needing minimum oversight.
• Experience in shipboard maintenance, shipyard/repair activity, and/or fleet support.
• Public speaking skills are necessary.
