About the position

The role involves providing technical support to engineers on various tasks, including gathering and manipulating technical data, producing engineering documentation, and performing detailed mathematical calculations. The position requires extensive knowledge in specialized functions and the ability to work with minimal supervision, often serving as a resource for problem resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to engineers on various technical tasks.
  • Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
  • Produce engineering documentation, reports, and drawings including flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics.
  • Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas and conduct preliminary analyses of data.
  • Use personal computer for analyses and development of documentation/reports.
  • Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate or Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate may substitute for Associate's Degree.
  • High School/GED with 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience may substitute for Associate's Degree.
  • High School/GED with 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience may substitute for Associate's Degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Self-starters and self-motivated individuals needing minimum oversight with attention to following direction.
  • Senior enlisted Submarine, military, government or technical background preferred.
  • Experience in shipboard maintenance, shipyard/repair activity and/or fleet support.
  • Proficiency in the latest version of Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is desired.
  • Ability to work independently with leadership, communication, analytical, team building, collaboration, and flexibility skills needed.
  • Public speaking skills are necessary.
