About the position

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled technician to lead telecommunications system installation teams under the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5) awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This contract, valued at over $1.8 billion, encompasses a variety of activities that support the FAA's Capital Investment Plan (CIP), the NextGen Program, and national security initiatives. The technician will be responsible for planning and executing projects of limited scope or portions of larger projects, ensuring that all technical work is integrated and meets the required standards. The role involves collaborating with engineers and other personnel to resolve issues and coordinate efforts across multiple FAA regions and facilities, including the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City and the Technical Center in Atlantic City. The technician will engage in a range of tasks, including reworking designs, developing electrical systems, conducting tests, and analyzing results to enhance equipment performance. They will also be responsible for creating designs for complex equipment installations, preparing detailed specifications, and ensuring the adequacy of technical drawings. The position requires a strong application of engineering principles to solve design and development challenges, as well as the ability to conduct independent technical procedures. The technician may also supervise and train lower-level technicians, contributing to their professional development. This role is critical in ensuring the successful execution of the FAA's projects, which are vital for the safety and efficiency of the national airspace system. The technician will work in a dynamic environment, requiring creativity and judgment to navigate complex design and operational problems. Responsibilities

  • Lead telecommunications system installation teams on non-routine and complex assignments.
  • Plan and conduct complete projects of limited scope or portions of larger projects.
  • Select and adapt plans, designs, or layouts for equipment installations.
  • Coordinate work with personnel in related activities to resolve problems.
  • Review, analyze, and integrate the technical work of others.
  • Rework designs and develop electrical systems, devices, or equipment.
  • Conduct tests or experiments and analyze results to improve performance.
  • Prepare designs and specifications for complex equipment or systems.
  • Plan approaches to solve design problems and recommend new design techniques.
  • Design and coordinate test setups and experiments to validate designs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 20+ years of work experience in a relevant field.
  • Ability to pass a government background check.
  • Practical knowledge of science or engineering principles.
  • Experience in electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Practical knowledge of mathematics or computer science.
