About the position

The Engineering Technician in Cell Cathode Engineering at Tesla is a hands-on role focused on materials development and evaluation for innovative cell products. The technician will conduct daily testing on various materials, report findings to engineers, and assist in optimizing testing parameters and developing new methods. This position is crucial for accelerating the transition to sustainable energy through effective materials characterization and data management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general characterization of powder materials using techniques such as acid base titration, BET, SEM, PSD, XRD, tap/pellet density, moisture content, and TGA.
• Perform electrochemical characterization of powder materials by synthesizing and assembling lithium-ion cell prototype coin cells.
• Process and manage data using a data system.
• Assist in optimizing testing parameters and developing new methods for application.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and prepare experiment reports.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience working in chemistry or biology labs.
• Experience calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Willingness to learn quickly and work efficiently to meet target goals.
• Meticulous attitude towards data tracking, observation, and communication with others.
• Ability to collaborate and take on challenges in unfamiliar areas.
• Ability to stay engaged while performing repetitive tasks.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift 20-40 lbs on occasion.
