The position involves performing routine to moderately complex electro-mechanical technical functions and activities. This includes tasks such as the design, testing, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting, and assembly of electronics and electro-mechanical systems. The role also encompasses experimental design circuitry, prototype models, and the use of specialized test equipment, tools, and test fixtures. The technician may be required to test and troubleshoot both system-level and component-level problems in electrical and mechanical systems and sub-systems. Additionally, the position may involve performing new system installations and field upgrades as part of New Product Introduction (NPI). The technician will work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or plans to conduct routine testing and troubleshooting. It is essential to compile logbooks and test procedures documentation, utilizing good writing skills. The role may also require performing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum testing on Applied Materials (AMAT) platforms, adhering to Engineering and Manufacturing documentation and specifications. Safety is a critical aspect of this position; therefore, the technician must observe all safety standards, maintain a secure and clean work environment, and attend required health and safety training. Prompt reporting of accidents, injuries, safety hazards, or emergencies to the supervisor or Safety department is mandatory. The technician must follow operating instructions, use protective equipment when required, and handle equipment and materials properly. The position is physically demanding, often requiring standing for extended periods, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting. The ability to distinguish between colors and work in a noisy environment is also necessary. The use of hand and power tools, as well as driving or operating heavy machinery, including forklifts, may be required. Additionally, working in a clean room may necessitate the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields. The technician will develop analytical skills and apply scientific methods to perform a variety of activities, while also having a good understanding of how the team integrates with others. Although there are no supervisory responsibilities, the technician is expected to recognize and solve typical problems that can occur in their work area without supervisory approval, evaluating and selecting solutions from established operating procedures and/or scientific methods. The quality of their work will have a direct impact on the overall success of the team.
