About the position

The position involves performing field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. The role requires effective communication with various stakeholders, including project managers and contractors, to ensure compliance with project requirements and safety standards. The technician will also be responsible for transporting material samples, preparing reports, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
  • Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, and client representatives regarding project requirements and testing results.
  • Transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
  • Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
  • Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.
  • Adhere to strict safety standards and report any safety issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
  • Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • ACI certification in Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or Concrete Strength Testing Technician.
  • Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
  • Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Nice-to-haves

  • NICET Level II certification in Construction Materials Testing in categories like Asphalt, Concrete, Soils.
  • NICET Level II certification in Geotechnical categories.
  • ICC certification in categories such as Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel - Welding.
  • AWS Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI).
  • ASNT Level II certification in multiple testing areas.
