About the position
This full-time, onsite position is within the Airspace Management Section of Test Managements Branch within the Range Operations Division (ROD) at the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland. The position provides aircraft control and airspace management support as part of the Military Radar Unit (MRU) team.
Responsibilities
- Provides safe and expeditious flow of air traffic in Restricted and Warning Areas
- Configures real-time command and control display systems to meet well-defined RDT&E and training event requirements
- Provides scheduling and de-confliction of Special Use Airspace and Warning Areas
- Must be able to work overtime for flight support when requested
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED is required
- Engineering/Electronics Technician AA/AS degree or related curriculum from an accredited college or university or successful completion of technical school or successful completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of courses from an accredited college
- Minimum of six (6) years work experience performing the stated or similar functions
- Must possess a valid drivers license and successfully pass Drug Screening
Nice-to-haves
- Successful completion of Air Intercept Controller (0318) or Air Traffic Controller technical training is preferred
- Experience in aircraft command and control techniques and knowledge of applicable air traffic control rules and regulations is preferred
- Should have an understanding of airspace management and range operations is preferred
- Should be a self-starter and be able to use initiative to work with minimal supervision
- Must be flexible and team oriented
