About the position

The position involves supporting engineering and testing of hardware, specifically focusing on High Powered RF Amplifiers, Tubes, Cavities, and Magnetrons. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating, installing, repairing, servicing, and upgrading High Powered Amplifiers. This role requires performing non-routine and complex assignments that involve the repair, maintenance, and modernization of electronic equipment necessary for generating RF environments that support military electromagnetic testing. The technician will work closely with division leadership and experimental developers to identify modifications or modernization efforts that will enhance the current electronics equipment used in the division. The role demands a proactive approach to managing multiple testing activities in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. The technician will also be responsible for identifying resources needed for repairs, collaborating with vendors, obtaining quotes, and generating purchase requests. Additionally, maintaining the status of high-powered equipment and reporting to division leadership on all RF equipment utilized by the division is a critical aspect of this position. The technician will work alongside lower-level technicians, providing guidance and support as needed. Candidates must be flexible with their schedules and willing to work weekends or overtime as required. The position may also require compliance with COVID-19 vaccination or testing protocols as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate, install, repair, service, and upgrade High Powered Amplifiers.
  • Perform non-routine and complex assignments involving repair, maintenance, and modernization of electronic equipment needed to generate RF environments for military electromagnetic testing.
  • Work with and assist lower-level technicians.
  • Identify resources needed for repairs and work with vendors to obtain quotes and generate purchase requests.
  • Maintain status of high-powered equipment and report to division leadership on all RF equipment utilized by the division.
  • Collaborate with division experimental developers to identify modifications or modernization efforts for current electronics equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) years of applicable experience supporting engineering or testing of hardware in the appropriate area of specialization; or two (2) years of applicable college/vocational/military/technical school and three (3) years of applicable experience in the assigned specialty area.
  • Successful completion of sixteen (16) weeks of civilian or military training in electronics or basic instrumentation techniques.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in electronics/instrumentation supporting engineering or testing of military hardware.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Must have or be able to acquire a security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of High Powered RF Amplifiers, Tubes, Cavities, and Magnetrons.
  • Experience supporting engineering or testing of military hardware.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision or daily direction.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work around and with high power RF and high voltage equipment.
