The position involves performing moderately complex electro-mechanical technical functions and activities, which include design, testing, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting, and assembly of electronics and electro-mechanical systems. The role requires the individual to engage in experimental design circuitry, prototype models, and the use of specialized test equipment, tools, and test fixtures. The technician will be responsible for testing and troubleshooting both system-level and component-level problems in electrical and mechanical systems and sub-systems. This may also involve performing new system installations and field upgrades for New Product Introductions (NPI). The technician will work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or plans to conduct moderate testing and troubleshooting. They will compile logbooks and test procedures documentation, utilizing good writing skills, and assist in revising, developing, and implementing department procedures. The role may also require performing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and process testing on Applied Materials platforms according to engineering and manufacturing documentation and specifications. Safety is a critical aspect of this position; the technician must observe all safety standards and maintain a secure, safe, clean, and healthy work environment. This includes attending required health and safety training, following safety and security policies, and promptly reporting any accidents, injuries, safety hazards, or emergencies to the supervisor or Safety department. The technician will also be expected to follow operating instructions, use protective equipment when required, and use equipment and materials properly to actively prevent accidents and injuries. Additionally, the technician will become familiar with current manufacturing and/or engineering processes and stay informed of any changes in procedures. They will assist in correcting problems, perform necessary rework, and help determine remedies for malfunctions, generating Quality Notifications as needed. This position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods, walk, work in tight spaces, bend, squat, twist, kneel, reach, climb stairs and ladders, lift, and operate heavy machinery, including forklifts. The use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when working in a clean room environment.
