About the position

The Engineering Technician III position at Saalex Solutions involves a comprehensive understanding of electrical theory, photovoltaic (PV) equipment, and generators. The role requires the technician to troubleshoot and maintain PV and generator equipment, demonstrating mechanical experience and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. The technician must be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions and will receive training and certification for tower climbing and rescue operations. Overtime is required, and candidates must be comfortable with this expectation. The position also necessitates the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. In this role, the technician will provide support to the engineering and design staff by executing a variety of complex assignments related to the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction, and operation of diverse electronic and mechanical equipment and systems, all in accordance with engineering specifications. Responsibilities include installing, monitoring, and servicing equipment and systems at both company and client sites, performing tests and evaluations, and certifying various electronic systems. The technician will also review Engineering Change Proposals and assist in the implementation of Engineering Change Instructions. The technician will develop technical and engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, update technical drawings, create operating procedures, and contribute to maintainability improvements and test reports. They will support systems engineering activities with their subject matter expertise and assist in training others on system operations and performance. Planning and coordinating the work of other engineering technicians and related positions is also a key responsibility. The technician will establish and maintain filing systems, databases, and logs to track project status and inventory, and act as the on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed. Additionally, they will provide technical data and evaluations for components, equipment, and systems in line with engineering plans and contract requirements, and support engineers in developing technical proposals by providing feedback on the technical content and effort required for the proposed scope of work.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school from an academic institution or military equivalent training.
  • At least 5 years of job-related experience.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Planning and organizing skills with the ability to work under deadlines.
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Valid, current state driver's license; Class A license preferred.
