About the position

The Engineering Technician III position at General Dynamics Information Technology involves working on waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization projects for U.S. Naval ships. The role requires the technician to install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot various electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment while working in challenging environmental conditions. The technician will apply technical knowledge to solve complex problems and may provide leadership to less-experienced technicians.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs, and tests various types of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
• Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems.
• Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized test and diagnostic equipment.
• Modifies circuitry to improve performance and makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems.
• Provides operation and maintenance instruction to customer personnel.
• Prepares operating and malfunction reports and related documentation.
• Assists engineering staff in determining and solving equipment design problems.
• May perform quality assurance testing of assemblies and equipment fabricated by other technicians.
• May provide work leadership to less-experienced technicians.
• Participates in special projects, as required.

Requirements

• Associates of Arts/Associates of Science degree.
• 3+ years of related experience in fabrication and operations.
• US Citizenship required.
