About the position

In this role, you will have great latitude to establish and perform as an Engineering Technician IV, regarded as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). You will utilize your skills and expertise to perform a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or propulsion fields. Your responsibilities will include constructing, troubleshooting, calibrating, testing, and maintaining equipment, components, devices, or systems, ensuring that they meet established specifications. You will support both internal and external project efforts by developing and conducting engine performance testing, identifying key test activities, and safely operating and testing UAS propulsion systems. Additionally, you will collaborate with engineering groups to identify and resolve design flaws and deficiencies. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection, and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial, and international customers, with years of experience in platform operations, engineering, and full lifecycle management across various domains including air, land, sea, space, and cyber.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe UAS operations and engine testing
  • Operation and maintenance of the Engine run cells
  • Assemble propulsion systems
  • Set up engine test cells and run engine testing
  • Document test results

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related field of study
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications
  • Comprehensive understanding of standard laboratory test equipment, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, Pitot static equipment, and other measurement equipment
  • Understanding of piston-driven engines (2t, 4t, SI, CI)
  • Experience with piston engine assembly
  • Experience with Electronic Fuel Injection calibration and testing
  • Experience with electrical system diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Experience with fuel system diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Experience with engine dynamometer testing preferred
  • Experience with harness assembly

Nice-to-haves

  • IPC certificate
  • Basic skills with engine and avionics installation tooling, wiring, wiring repair, and wiring installation
  • Understanding of soldering techniques
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with 3-D CAD software
  • Experience with metal fabrication
