About the position

The Engineering Technician Lead position at the City of Kansas City involves overseeing permit writing and ensuring compliance with engineering standards within the Public Works Department, specifically in the Traffic Permits Division. The technician will utilize their knowledge of engineering technology and GIS to support the division's operations.

Responsibilities

• Performs permit writing.
• Possesses a basic understanding of issuing permits in Energov.
• Provides excellent customer service and interacts with the public in person and on the phone.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years of related experience in engineering drawing, mapping, automated mapping, GIS, CADD, engineering, land survey, construction inspection, or related fields; OR 2 years of experience at the level of Engineering Technician with relevant certifications.
• Possession of Level II Engineering Technology Certification, Land Surveyor in Training, or Class B Wastewater Collections System Certification.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in permit writing.
• Knowledge of EnerGOV.

Benefits

• Full-time position with a salary range of $23.98-$36.60/hour.
• Normal work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
