About the position

The Engineering Technician position involves supporting program designs and fabricating equipment for the development and manufacture of tactical hardware. The role requires collaboration with engineers and fabrication team members to create electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies based on engineering drawings. The technician will work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing various computer programs to manage job status and quality inspections while operating under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies according to engineering drawings.
  • Place and solder components on circuit cards and sub-assemblies.
  • Build wiring harnesses, including connector pinning and applying mounting hardware.
  • Assemble single or multi-bay cabinet assemblies for delivery to engineering or manufacturing production areas.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics, making corrections as necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other fabrication team members to address design and process issues.
  • Utilize computer-based programs to update job status and quality inspections.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical fabrication (cable and harness, SMT board, test equipment, etc.).
  • At least 3 years of experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and test/repair procedures.
  • At least 3 years of experience fabricating electrical test equipment designs from blueprints and engineering guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in repairs of electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Knowledge of basic avionics and electronics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and isolate faults using test equipment.
  • Familiarity with industrial standards and military specifications.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds and work with hazardous materials.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of solder certification to J-STD-001, IPC-7711/IPC-7721.
  • Experience with CCA component rework and repair.
  • Knowledge of fault isolation for electro-mechanical components.
