The Engineering Technician Senior position at the Iowa Department of Transportation is responsible for overseeing construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, and addressing concerns from various stakeholders. Responsibilities

• Evaluating and responding daily to employee, Department, and public concerns related to construction projects and risks associated with construction activities.
• Solving issues relating to plan errors, project needs, and implementing changes.
• Acting as the liaison with Iowa DOT staff, government officials, contractors, and the public.
• Assisting in hiring staff for projects and office.
• Ensuring that work is completed according to the plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Performing survey activities and utilizing engineering software to assist projects and measure quantities.
• Overseeing teammates assigned to specific projects.
• Completing routine maintenance and service of DOT equipment and vehicles.

Requirements

• May be required to obtain testing material certification, specialized equipment training, or other certifications as needed for construction inspection.
