About the position

The Engineering Technician (Test Director) will provide technical direction and oversight in the Repair Department of the TRIDENT Refit Facility. This role involves managing test programs, maintaining databases, and preparing comprehensive reports on test procedures and results, ensuring the effective evaluation of submarine systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction to the Work Packaging and Control Group.
  • Maintain a database and track all TRIDENT Refit Facility work associated with REFIT.
  • Prepare formal and informal comprehensive reports outlining test procedures and interpret test results.
  • Manage overall test programs during assigned shifts.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience in component/system testing and test program management related to submarine test programs.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering methods and techniques related to testing and evaluation of ship systems.
  • Experience in training and providing technical advice on complex shipboard systems across various submarine classes.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy requirements, policies, and procedures regarding design, maintenance, safety, and operation of submarine propulsion.
