About the position

The Engineering Technician VI plays a crucial role in supporting the Acquisition Readiness (AR) Performance Assessment (PA) Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) contract at NSWC Corona. This position is integral to the NSWC Corona Division, which organizes its efforts into specialized technical capability areas, including Warfare Systems Performance Assessment and Acquisition and Readiness Assessment. The division is dedicated to providing a disciplined process for measuring and managing material readiness through the use of custom tools, databases, data lakes, data warehouses, and business intelligence interfaces. These resources are essential for delivering authoritative metrics, trends, and drivers that inform decision-making processes. In addition to managing material readiness, the Corona Division is responsible for quantitative performance assessment. This involves utilizing custom analysis tools to process and visualize data for various branches of the military, including the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. The focus is on combat systems, which encompass sensors, track management, and weapon interfaces, as well as fleet interoperability and weapon systems. The analysis products generated are critical for sponsor decision-makers, ensuring that they have access to objective information and assessment products. The Engineering Technician VI is expected to independently plan and execute complete projects or studies that are broad in scope and complexity. Alternatively, this role may involve serving as an expert in a specific area of engineering, such as environmental factors affecting electronic engineering. The complexity of assignments typically requires a high degree of creativity and judgment, as the technician must devise innovative approaches to accomplish work, resolve design and operational problems, and make decisions in situations where standard engineering methods may not be applicable. While the supervisor or a professional engineer provides guidance on unusual or controversial issues, the completed work is reviewed for compliance with overall project objectives. Additionally, this position may involve supervising or training lower-level technicians, enhancing the collaborative work environment within the technical capability areas.
