About the position

The Engineering Technician at Varex Imaging plays a crucial role in supporting engineering activities related to the design, testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems. This position involves working with experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, and specialized test equipment. The technician will be responsible for interpreting schematics, diagrams, and written or verbal descriptions to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions on various systems and equipment. The role requires operational testing and fault isolation to identify and remedy malfunctions effectively. Additionally, the technician will assist in the design, construction, testing, and checkout of test equipment, utilizing a range of manufacturing, testing, development, and diagnostic equipment, including test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utilizing business tools such as email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with experience in SAP or equivalent ERP products. An Associate Degree or equivalent experience is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of related experience. The position demands physical capabilities, including the ability to lift and move equipment, perform repetitive motions, and work in environments with exposure to chemicals and electrical currents. The technician may also need to travel to customer sites occasionally, which could involve short trips lasting from 1 to 10 working days per year. This full-time position operates on the first shift and offers a variety of benefits to support the well-being of employees.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems.
  • Perform operational tests and fault isolation on systems and equipment.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • 5+ years of experience with SAP ERP systems or equivalent ERP product.
  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs occasionally and more than 5 lbs frequently.
  • Experience in handling physical exertion, such as standing, walking, bending, and repetitive motion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with productivity software and business tools.
