About the position

The Engineering Technician will support a high-growth R&D company specializing in High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) based transmission lines. This role involves designing and executing experiments to evaluate product performance, as well as building and assembling mechanical and electrical laboratory equipment. The technician will work closely with the Engineering Lab team to maintain laboratory facilities and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble mechanical and electrical laboratory equipment.
• Set up sensing and recording equipment including data acquisition, power supplies, current sensors, and voltage sensors.
• Maintain laboratory site and experimental facilities, ensuring orderliness and cleanliness.
• Produce and follow detailed SOPs and documentation for lab procedures, equipment, and parameters.
• Work with hand-operated power tools and basic shop equipment, including ladders, scissor lifts, and forklifts.
• Handle liquid nitrogen, pressurized systems, and other electrical equipment.

Requirements

• At least 2+ years of experience building electro-mechanical test equipment in a laboratory environment.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Proven mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand tools and power tools.
• Experience using test equipment such as multimeters and calipers.
• Experience with liquid cryogens and handling heat transfer systems is a plus.
• Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal).
• Motivated self-starter who is detail-oriented with a positive approach to problem solving.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities under tight deadlines.
