About the position

As an Engineering Technician at CPI Antenna Technologies, you will play a crucial role in supporting engineering activities that encompass the design, testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems. Your work will involve experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, and specialized test equipment. You will be responsible for performing a variety of equipment and process operations that require technical skills in areas such as electrical, software, manufacturing, and optical engineering. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting research and engineering laboratory functions, which may involve layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electronic or electromechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems. You will also be tasked with constructing, troubleshooting, calibrating, adjusting, testing, diagnosing, and maintaining various equipment and systems. Additionally, you will prepare prescribed compounds and solutions, implement practical solutions for process improvement, and conduct experiments under the guidance of senior technicians. This position requires you to work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions, and you may need to obtain a security clearance. You will operate related equipment, conduct tests, and report data in a prescribed format. The role may also require you to possess a 1st Class FCC License and Solder Repair Certification. You will work under general supervision and may provide direction to other employees with similar duties.

Responsibilities

  • Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
  • Performs a variety of equipment/process operations involving technical skills in specific areas (electrical, software, manufacturing, optical, etc.).
  • Conducts research and engineering laboratory functions including layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electronic or electromechanical devices.
  • Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.
  • Implements basic practical solutions for process improvement.
  • Conducts and documents experiments under guidance of senior technician.
  • Constructs basic tooling and fixtures to accomplish unique tasks.
  • Organizes data to identify cause/effect relationships and recommends resolution/process improvement.
  • Performs routine/basic preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of the job and substantial acquaintance with an understanding of general aspects of the job.
  • Ability to demonstrate soldering skills to pass J-std cert. if required.
  • General computer and test equipment knowledge.
  • Ability to fabricate simple hardware as required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-5 years of experience in field maintenance preferred.
  • Associate Degree or better.
