About the position

The Engineering Technician position at Shape LLC involves testing, evaluation, and documentation related to prototype development, production support, and product returns. This role is integral to the Engineering Department, working closely with electrical design engineers and manufacturing personnel, and offers significant opportunities for professional growth within the company.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers to facilitate prototype development, testing, and evaluation
• Set-up and execute electrical tests; record, analyze, and communicate results
• Document observations and necessary design changes for new and existing products
• Coordinate with team members to maintain testing schedule
• Address and resolve daily electrical, mechanical, and quality production issues
• Provide production support for new product introduction and continuous improvement
• Create and maintain production test fixtures and associated equipment
• Conduct root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions for product returns

Requirements

• Strong mathematical, electrical, and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documents (i.e. schematics, electrical specifications, mechanical drawings) to create test set ups and test fixtures
• Ability to effectively use DMM's, oscilloscope, and other electrical test equipment
• Competency in basic electrical theory
• Experience with hand and power tools
• Exemplary analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Meticulous documentation and organizational skills
• Proficient in MS-Office applications
• Proficiency in CAD software is a plus
