About the position
The Engineering Technician at Hörmann North America is responsible for clarifying incoming orders that may not flow through the ERP system without manual intervention. This role involves manipulating orders where bills of material did not explode correctly, ensuring that products can be produced and delivered as ordered. The technician will also perform system testing, communicate updates to production staff, and assist in investigations related to production issues.
Responsibilities
- Review sales orders and quotes to ensure completeness of bills of material and product characteristics prior to production planning.
- Clarify orders in the ERP system, modifying existing bills of materials or product characteristics as necessary.
- Collaborate and provide support to engineering and production teams.
- Interact frequently with the sales department and customers to understand requests and communicate limitations.
- Create reports and correspondence related to orders and production.
- Communicate with production regarding system changes or bills of material changes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or similar preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, particularly in engineering, production planning, or order entry.
- Experience with bills of material or bills of material structure is beneficial.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Excel is required.
- Experience with ERP software such as Oracle, JD Edwards, or SAP is preferred, with SAP being the primary system used.
Nice-to-haves
- Fluency in Spanish or German is a plus, but English is required.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Flexibility in working hours when required.
