About the position
The Engineering Technician role at Actalent involves performing analytical tasks related to the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical power distribution facilities. The position focuses on creating work orders, job sketches, and cost estimates, while also utilizing GIS mapping tools. This is a contract-to-hire position that requires both office and outdoor work, with responsibilities including responding to storm damage and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Creates work orders, job sketches, material lists, and cost estimates.
- Updates GIS system for new jobs, property damage, and correction of errors to facilities.
- Uses Arc FM GIS mapping for job designs and submissions.
- Reviews inbox with jobs from service reps and area personnel to meet standards and safety rules.
- Handles after-the-fact jobs following storm damage.
- Creates work orders in SAP and receives training for SAP for lineman to perform after-hours and storm work.
Requirements
- Experience with electrical systems and power distribution facilities.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS mapping tools.
- Ability to perform analytical tasks under direct supervision.
