This individual will be responsible for engineering technician support related to the inspection and robotic handling of coated optics within Viavi Solutions. The person in this position is the technical interface between the process engineers and the production floor. This role will involve support related to programming Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) tools and Pick-and-Place (PnP) equipment for new products in production, as well as providing ongoing production support and troubleshooting for the AOI and PnP equipment. This person will also work closely with the engineering team to establish systemic solutions and processes to improve throughput, process consistency, and process training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering technician support related to the inspection and robotic handling of coated optics.
  • Act as the technical interface between process engineers and the production floor.
  • Support programming of Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) tools and Pick-and-Place (PnP) equipment for new products in production.
  • Provide ongoing production support and troubleshooting for AOI and PnP equipment.
  • Work closely with the engineering team and operations to ensure high quality products are delivered to customers.
  • Interface with production personnel to provide manufacturing guidance, training, and problem solving.
  • Transfer new products from engineering to production ownership.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement activities in manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Experience with equipment programming, automated inspection, and robotic handling.
  • Experience in volume manufacturing, as well as low volume, high product mix environments.
  • Proven track record of working with engineering to drive systemic solutions to the production floor.
  • Demonstrated capability of working with production to meet customer specifications, expectations, and on-time delivery.
  • Experience in working with demanding consumers.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with internal, external, and international customers.
  • Product development experience is desirable.
  • Ability to be US Classified preferable.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Bias for action.
