The Electronic Engineering Technician at Excelitas Technologies in Miamisburg, Ohio, plays a crucial role in the troubleshooting and maintenance of a major production line within the Defense and Aerospace Business Unit. This position is integral to the design, manufacture, and testing of energetic safety systems, including electronic safe, arm and fire (ESAF) devices, firing modules (FMs), ignition safety devices (ISDs), and custom energetics. The technician will be responsible for conducting electronic failure analysis and reporting, ensuring that production testers, cables, and test fixtures are fabricated, repaired, and recalibrated effectively. A strong understanding of electrical schematics is essential, as the technician will analyze these schematics to determine root causes for various failure modes. In addition to troubleshooting, the technician will design and fabricate prototype manual test stations and fixtures, participate in pre-production builds, and conduct product testing at internal, government, and customer labs. The role requires the ability to prototype and troubleshoot both existing and new electronic designs, as well as the capacity to become a subject matter expert on a major product line. Training test technicians and production personnel on testing procedures and improvements is also a key responsibility. The technician will coordinate with other divisions to continuously enhance product quality and processes, and will conduct laboratory or field test experiments, interpreting observations and results to inform future actions. This position demands self-motivation and the ability to organize tasks efficiently to keep programs on track. The technician will be expected to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, reach, and use multiple hand tools, and spend prolonged periods working under a microscope. Due to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance is necessary. The role also involves compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
