About the position

The Engineering Technician position at Clayton County Water Authority involves designing, reviewing, and revising drawings for water, sewer, and stormwater systems. The role also includes providing technical assistance to customers and staff, preparing applications for permits, and maintaining infrastructure databases using GIS software.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare computer designs of water lines, meter installations, gravity sewer lines, sewer force mains, sewer pumping stations, and stormwater lines using AutoCAD or GIS software.
• Provide support and technical assistance to customers and CCWA staff regarding water and sewer locations, service availability, and meter quotes.
• Prepare and submit applications for encroachment permits to the Department of Transportation, railroad, and other utilities.
• Complete special projects including GIS maps and graphics for presentations and board meetings.
• Provide technical documentation for project management.
• Assist in asset management by developing and maintaining an infrastructure database using GIS.
• Process various documentation associated with department operations within designated timeframes and procedures.
• Operate a personal computer and general office equipment to complete essential functions.
• Communicate with supervisors, CCWA employees, the public, and outside agencies to coordinate work activities and resolve problems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required, with vocational or technical training in computer-aided design, GIS, or related field.
• One year of experience in computer-aided design or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Must possess and maintain Erosion & Sediment Control Level 1B certification within 18 months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS software.
• Experience in project management and technical documentation.
