About the position

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician at EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS) plays a crucial role in supporting the production floor by performing machine changeovers and assisting in manufacturing and process engineering. This position is essential for troubleshooting equipment, developing new production processes, and ensuring the efficiency and safety of manufacturing operations in the aerospace, defense, and medical industries.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment containing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to resolve production stoppages.
  • Change dies on a hydraulic powder compaction press daily.
  • Changeover equipment by changing tools, loading electronic recipes, and adjusting settings to obtain desired results.
  • Set up equipment for production operators when necessary.
  • Develop new production processes and implement changes to existing processes.
  • Create and update process documentation including written procedures and travelers.
  • Train operators to perform production processes according to documentation.
  • Assist Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering in developing production test equipment design requirements and specifications.
  • Investigate root causes of non-conformance issues and develop corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development of line layout, prototype equipment, and verification protocols for manufacturing readiness.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Prepare and review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Ensure test methods and fixtures are optimized for current manufacturing environments and execute verification protocols.
  • Assist in product testing, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and tools.
  • Recommend capital equipment requirements for production and testing, and participate in installations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Basic arithmetic and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to use cause and effect reasoning to troubleshoot processes and equipment.
  • Basic competency in MS Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with aerospace or defense industry standards.
