About the position

The Engineering Technician position is a temporary role within the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, aimed at providing support in various administrative and procedural tasks. This position is open to U.S. citizens and is designed for students seeking practical experience in engineering-related fields. The role involves in-person attendance at designated locations and may require coordination of travel requests using the Defense Travel System.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, assign, log, and prepare customer work requests.
  • Perform a variety of procedural, clerical, and basic administrative support duties.
  • Receive calls, greet visitors, and direct them to appropriate staff based on knowledge of projects and operations.
  • Coordinate, organize, and arrange individual requests for travel using the Defense Travel System (DTS).

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service if born after 12-31-59.
  • Must be a degree-seeking student enrolled at least half-time at an accredited institution with a GPA of at least 2.85.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in engineering, engineering technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.
