About the position

Lighthouse Professional Services, a division of Staffing 360 Solutions, is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team in Tyngsboro, MA. This position is a temp-to-hire opportunity, offering a competitive hourly wage of $25 to $30, depending on experience. The Engineering Technician will play a crucial role in supporting the engineering team by performing both electrical and environmental testing on inductor components, as well as assisting in the development of new manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing process knowledge, and will be responsible for documenting production procedures using Microsoft Office applications. In this role, the Engineering Technician will operate custom injection molding equipment to mold various products and will be involved in assembling test samples using soldering and micro-electronic bonding equipment. The technician will also assist with the assembly and testing of new manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical aspects of manufacturing equipment, and contribute to the manufacturing of custom products. This position requires a proactive individual who can multitask and work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment, both independently and as part of a team. The Engineering Technician will report directly to the V.P of Engineering and will be expected to input and extract data from various computer programs used for performing electrical and environmental tests. Strong organizational skills and excellent documentation abilities are essential for success in this role, as is the ability to interpret and follow written procedures and product specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform both electrical and environmental testing on inductor components.
  • Input and extract data from various computer programs used for performing electrical and environmental tests.
  • Document production procedures using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Operate custom injection molding equipment to mold various products.
  • Assist engineering in the development of new manufacturing processes.
  • Assemble test samples using soldering and micro-electronic bonding equipment.
  • Assist with the assembly & testing of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist in the manufacturing of custom products.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical & electrical aspects of manufacturing equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as Engineering Technician in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Proficient working with various manufacturing and testing equipment.
  • Proficient with hand tools, basic power tools and soldering equipment.
  • Proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong electrical & mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to use a microscope and tweezers to handle extremely small components without damage.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written procedures.
  • Ability to interpret product specifications and mechanical drawings.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Organized with excellent documentation skills.
  • Ability to multitask & work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to work from both written and verbal communications.

Nice-to-haves

  • A.S. Degree in Electronics or Engineering Technology is a plus.
  • Previous electrical & environmental test experience is a plus.
  • Previous injection molding experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in a Micro-Manufacturing Environment is a plus.
