About the position

The Engines Test Manufacturing Engineer II role at Blue Origin focuses on the testing of engines and propulsion systems, contributing to the development of reusable and low-cost space vehicles. This position is integral to the Blue Origin Operations team, which encompasses manufacturing and supply chain support across all facilities. The engineer will apply standard engineering methods to design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations while leading the integration of design requirements into production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new rocket engine integration processes
  • Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware by developing manufacturing work instructions
  • Closely lead integration build sequence, cost, quality, and schedule of hardware throughout the manufacturing process
  • Deploy recovery strategies for non-conformances and perform root cause analyses
  • Lead hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the test process
  • Define preparation methods for hardware testing, qualification, and flight
  • Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods to improve quality and reduce costs
  • Conduct DFMA and PFMEA studies to enhance the design-build-test feedback loop
  • Perform engineering drawing reviews and provide final approval for manufacturing
  • Develop process control measures and evaluate them through statistical analysis
  • Interface with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of hardware

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Mastery of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing
  • Broad experience in hardware manufacturing including assembly, integration, and testing
  • Proven track record in developing new manufacturing processes
  • Strong intuition and judgment for high-velocity decision-making
  • Excellent written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate clearly at all organizational levels
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships and foster an inclusive culture
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.
