About the position

The ESL Teacher position at Community Literacy Centers, Inc. involves providing instruction to adult learners seeking to improve their English language skills. The role focuses on enhancing students' reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities through structured classes. Instructors will utilize provided curriculum and lesson plans to facilitate learning in a supportive environment, with classes scheduled twice a week in the evenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in reading strategies such as phonemic awareness, systematic phonics, and fluency.
• Be responsible for minimal paperwork and class preparation outside of class time.
• Develop a lesson plan for adults based on their educational needs and goals.
• Teach a multi-level class of adults.
• Administer standardized tests.

Requirements

• Valid Teaching Certification license
• Valid TESOL Certification
• Bachelor's degree in education, TESOL, TEFL, or related area
• Previous teaching experience
• Excellent English language skills and grammar knowledge
• Strong leadership abilities
• Dependable transportation
• Organized and self-directed with a comprehensive knowledge of educational principles
• Ability to adapt instructional strategies and classroom management using a variety of delivery methods (whole group, small group, individual)

Nice-to-haves
