About the position

The English Language Arts (with ESL endorsement) teacher at Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District is responsible for providing effective instruction to middle school students through various learning modalities, including distance, virtual, and face-to-face learning. The role aims to foster students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while ensuring they develop the necessary competencies to succeed in society. Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through distance, virtual, or face-to-face learning.
• Prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles and needs.
• Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials that reflect understanding of students' needs.
• Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students as per IEP guidelines.
• Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods according to district requirements.
• Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
• Utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
• Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' development.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
• Communicate with students and parents through various platforms and maintain an ongoing contact log.
• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
• Knowledge of subjects assigned and general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with distance learning and virtual teaching environments.
• Familiarity with Google Classroom and Microsoft Office 365.
