About the position

The Equipment Engineer III at Verizon is responsible for the engineering and design of macro and small cell site equipment for deployment and modification projects in Southern California. This role involves planning, engineering, provisioning, and implementation of Ericsson equipment, managing equipment inventory, and ensuring timely delivery of equipment. The position requires collaboration with various teams and vendors to incorporate the latest equipment standards and manage financial aspects related to equipment ordering.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, engineer, provision, and implement Ericsson equipment for macro and small cell sites.
  • Perform equipment ordering through Engineering Orders and Bills of Material using Verizon proprietary software FUZE.
  • Manage and maintain equipment-related dates and inventory for the cell site build plan.
  • Perform power and HVAC calculations to size equipment based on demand.
  • Work closely with equipment vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality of products.
  • Collaborate with Budgeting, Finance, Construction, Real Estate, and RF Teams during the design phase.
  • Review Construction Drawings for all projects and ensure compliance with equipment standards.
  • Order equipment for new macro cell sites and coordinate with Construction Engineers for availability.
  • Coordinate equipment receiving, inventory, and releases with the Equipment Distribution Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in network equipment engineering or related field.
  • Experience with financial management related to purchase orders.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including functions like VLOOKUP and PivotTable.
  • Knowledge of DC power systems used in telecommunications.
  • Understanding of cellular network architecture and Ericsson equipment.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Google Suite.
  • Experience in project management within the telecommunications industry.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends in telecommunications technology.
