About the position

The Enrollment Management Counselor at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) is tasked with increasing the enrollment of qualified undergraduate students and achieving yearly enrollment goals. This role involves extensive travel and requires evening and weekend work during peak admission cycles. The counselor will engage prospective students through various high-impact activities, including calls, texts, and recruitment events, to generate inquiries and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage enrollment for assigned territories using statistical data and tracking systems.
  • Develop and implement communication plans including calls, letters, texts, and emails to follow up with prospects.
  • Execute strategies from the recruitment plan for Houston and surrounding areas, including proposing initiatives and evaluating outcomes.
  • Participate in and travel to off-campus recruitment events locally and statewide to recruit prospective transfer students.
  • Coordinate partnership efforts with community college administrators and non-profit organizations to promote programs and enrollment.
  • Make presentations to prospective transfer students, parents, and counselors for recruitment purposes.
  • Provide pre-admission counseling for prospective transfer students and their families.
  • Support university activities such as on-campus recruitment events and orientation/registration activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Valid current driver's license.
  • Thorough understanding of higher education policies regarding admission and enrollment, specifically for undergraduate/graduate degree requirements.
  • Effective communication skills in speech and writing, with the ability to interact with a broad range of clientele.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in program development and documentation.
  • Flexibility and ability to analyze and respond to varying situations.
  • Ability to work within and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree.
  • One year of experience in admissions.
  • Bilingual.
