About the position

The Enrollment Representative II at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is responsible for managing daily membership and enrollment activities, including processing applications for new enrollments, terminations, changes, renewals, and database updates. This role requires effective customer service skills and the ability to handle complex applications while ensuring accurate billing and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and logs subscriber and member enrollment applications into the system.
  • Processes complex applications including new enrollments, terminations, cancellations, changes, and renewals.
  • Updates all electronic enrollment files and works with edit/error reports generated from membership transactions.
  • Collaborates with multiple operational areas to ensure appropriate group structure, status, benefits, and billing.
  • Prepares and issues contracts, benefit books, and ID cards as needed.
  • Responds to and resolves customer inquiries and issues.
  • Contacts plan administrators and internal/external customers to resolve problems.
  • Trains new staff and maintains accurate desk procedures.
  • Coordinates monthly billing and prepares monthly invoices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of customer service or administration/clerical support experience, or a combination of both.
  • 1 year of experience in a membership/billing/accounts area.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Effective customer service skills and good judgment.
