About the position

The Enrollment Services Specialist (ESS) at Lake-Sumter State College serves as the primary contact for incoming students, guiding them through various services related to program selection, financial aid, and enrollment. The ESS is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to both new and continuing students, ensuring they have access to the resources offered by the College and the community. This role involves multi-channel communication and requires a commitment to the College's mission of transforming lives and futures.

Responsibilities

  • Provides in-depth knowledge regarding enrollment processes, educational programs, and college policies.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to a diverse community of students and staff.
  • Receives and assesses supporting documentation including transcripts, residency information, financial aid, and other pertinent enrollment documents.
  • Screens and assesses individual student needs to help determine appropriate resources and services.
  • Provides guidance on the federal financial aid application process, eligibility, and award status.
  • Provides general academic advising utilizing the college catalog, guided pathways, and DegreeWorks.
  • Makes full use of college technology to input and retrieve data, access reference materials, and communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Orients students to college technology and policy.
  • Independently responds to inquiries appropriately to ensure that student needs and questions are addressed in an accurate, professional way.
  • Resolves routine inquiries and escalates more in-depth issues as required.
  • Collaborates interdepartmentally to efficiently meet student needs.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other College departments, including academic advising, financial aid, career development, student accessibility services, learning support, etc.
  • Provides programmatic support within the Enrollment Services Division, as appropriate (i.e. NSAR, information sessions, block parties, college nights).
  • Maintains accurate records of student engagements.
  • Maintains student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Contributes to the college's enrollment and retention goals, as appropriate.
  • Assumes new job duties that align with the goals and organizational structure of the college.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in clerical work including duties, which include customer service experience.
