About the position

The Enterprise IT Business Analyst III plays a crucial role in understanding and documenting the business goals and processes of Texas Tech departments. This position serves as a liaison between central IT and functional departments, assisting in the support of software applications and managing business analyst projects. The analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and developing data related to business areas, implementing software applications, and suggesting improvements in business processes through automation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, manage and maintain research database implementations and other data solutions as requested by management.
  • Lead administrative support, enhancements and maintenance for the Office of Research Sharepoint sites.
  • Lead administrative support, enhancements and maintenance for the Office of Research enterprise systems, such as REDCap, iRIS and Cayuse.
  • Perform analysis on business process issues and inefficiencies within the Office of Research.
  • Create, manage and maintain an appropriate documentation strategy for Research Data Management and Office of Research tasks and projects.
  • Analyze new third party applications and tools to meet Research Data Management and Office of Research goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate research system and server patches, enhancements, modifications and upgrades with the appropriate IT teams.
  • Act as backup for Research Data Management Director when requested.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required plus five (5) years related full-time paid experience.
  • Experience in understanding business processes and documenting them.
  • Ability to analyze and develop data solutions for business areas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with technical work in designing and developing database-driven web applications in a university and/or research environment.
  • Experience with Web Services and Windows Services.
  • Experience with PHP, Linux and MySQL.
  • Experience with Sharepoint, iRIS/iMedRIS, REDCap, Cayuse and/or other research/sponsored program applications.
  • Experience with Oracle, Banner/Cognos queries and reporting.
  • Experience using Fortify and adhoc reporting tools.
  • Experience with database migrations.
  • Experience with Agile or other RAD iterative methodologies.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, Tableau and/or Microsoft Power BI.
