In this role, you will be responsible for driving Agile and Lean frameworks that ensure quality product delivery, continuous improvement, and timely releases. You will manage the day-to-day operations of an Agile team, leading essential ceremonies such as Backlog Refinement, Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives. Your role will also involve coaching team members and promoting accountability and transparency across all levels of the organization. You will help teams identify dependencies and skill gaps, ensuring their delivery success by leveraging appropriate Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban. The Scrum Master II will also facilitate scaled planning for the team, actively coach other leaders and peers on Agile best practices, and utilize Lean-Agile metrics to foster continuous improvement. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners to maintain a healthy product backlog and ensure that the team is high-performing through effective communication and collaboration. Responsibilities

  • Organize and facilitate agile team activities and ceremonies (e.g. Planning, Daily stand-up, Backlog Refinement, Demos/Reviews, and Retrospectives).
  • Facilitate scaled planning for the team in a Scaled Agile model, including Pre-Planning/Preparation and PI Planning Events.
  • Coach other leaders, peer roles, and individual contributors on continual improvement and Agile adoption.
  • Promote healthy interactions within the team and with external stakeholders.
  • Utilize Lean-Agile metrics to help teams continually improve.
  • Assess the Agile/Scrum maturity of the team and coach them to higher levels of maturity.
  • Teach team members the mechanics of the Agile framework and its specific roles, work products, and activities.
  • Increase team knowledge of Agile/Lean topics and help them understand the rationale behind practices.
  • Stay current with Agility industry trends and explore various approaches based on need.
  • Promote the use of quality/engineering practices within the team.
  • Collaborate with product owner(s) to ensure a healthy product and Sprint backlog.
  • Serve as Scrum Master for 2-3 Agile Teams and coach them on the importance of regular sprint reviews.
  • Manage and implement areas of improvement identified in the Retrospective.
  • Facilitate dependency management, risk management, and impediment removal for the team.
  • Work with Product Owners and Program Managers to understand product roadmap and priorities.
  • Enable the team to become high performing through collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate with leaders across the organization to ensure transparency into delivery progress, challenges, and risks.
  • Support the team in using agile planning and development tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Sharepoint, M365).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or business administration or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master.
  • 2+ years' experience leading multiple Agile teams on successful software delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and be approachable.
  • Ability to coach through constructive conflict and build positive partnerships.
  • Awareness of Agile technology practices, techniques, and DevOps.
  • Effective facilitation skills at the team and department level.
  • Ability to remain neutral and apply conflict management.
  • Knowledge of industry standard software best practices and development lifecycle processes.
  • Ability to guide teams in the use of Agile/Scrum/Kanban practices.
  • Ability to coach the team to higher levels of maturity sustainably.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload of multiple teams.
  • Experience working with business end users and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (ADO, Jira, ServiceNow).
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and passionate about learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and issue resolution skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Agile certifications such as Advanced Certified ScrumMaster, Certified Scrum Professional ScrumMaster, SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe Advanced Scrum Master, PMI-ACP.
  • Experience leading/facilitating training sessions.
  • Experience working in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
