About the position

The Enterprise Communications Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing strategic communication plans that effectively convey the agency's programs, services, and products. This role involves providing expert advice on communication strategies tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and implement executive branch-wide content and communications strategy and campaigns for MNIT's services, operations, products/projects, program units, and MNIT teams that support agency partners.
  • Provide expert advice to division directors and service managers to develop strategic plans for communicating agency's priorities.
  • Lead technical writer and editor for Enterprise Services communication needs, using plain language principles, AP style, and the MNIT brand voice.
  • Evaluate and report on enterprise communications activities to make data-driven communications decisions, and consolidate duplicative activities for efficient and effective work.
  • Administer the mass-email tool, GovDelivery, including training MNIT employees and creating and maintaining policies and procedures for MNIT users.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in strategic communication planning, technical writing, or providing communication strategy guidance for varied audiences.
  • Expertise in planning and executing service marketing and corporate communication strategies with the capability to translate technical information into business-friendly language.
  • Advanced writing and editing skills, producing audience-focused content using plain language and AP style.
  • Experience with mass email tools like MailChimp, GovDelivery, Constant Contact, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects concurrently, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven ability to interact confidently and effectively with diverse leadership, providing expert communication guidance.
  • Strong understanding of IT services and IT service marketing, including organizational change management.
  • Technical proficiency with publishing applications and demonstrated skill in print and web layout.
  • Experience in web information architecture, structural design, and content management systems (CMS).
  • Familiarity with IT management organizations and IT communications, with experience in ITIL, LEAN, or Six Sigma methodologies.
