About the position

The Enterprise Customer Domain serves as the authoritative source for customer data across PayPal, Inc., leveraging a governed customer taxonomy to accurately identify and describe customers. As the Enterprise Customer Domain Steward, you will be responsible for overseeing the Enterprise Customer Master (ECM) and ensuring the consistency and quality of both the ECM and its extensions. This role entails ownership of the contracts and taxonomy associated with the "Customer" entity within PayPal, Inc.'s ecosystem. Your contributions will be crucial in safeguarding the accessibility, accuracy, integrity, and security of our customer data organization-wide, ultimately enhancing the experiences of PayPal's customers.

Responsibilities

  • Single-point of responsibility and accountability for data decisions associated with the Enterprise Customer Master - attribute additions, logic changes, taxonomy changes, etc. - coordinating with the business data stewards, business data leads, enterprise architects, enterprise data architects, and the data governance lead as needed.
  • Accountable for the quality and trust in Enterprise Customer Domain data, including the extensions of the Enterprise Customer Master. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and rectify data quality issues, implementing proactive measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Establish the primary source of Enterprise Customer taxonomy and common customer definitions across PayPal, Inc in collaboration with Enterprise Data Architecture, Enterprise Data Governance, and Enterprise Architecture - identifying and resolving conflicts across the organization.
  • Ensure the Enterprise Customer Master and associated extensions adhere to PayPal's data governance framework for customer data, working with teams to ensure the proper data quality controls are implemented.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a data stewardship or governance role, focusing on customer data.
  • In-depth understanding of data quality management, data governance principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in complex situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Familiarity with relevant technologies and tools for data management and analysis.
  • Able to see the “big picture”-the end-to-end connection points associated with data and systems.
  • Industry certifications in data management or related fields are a plus.
