About the position

Zurich North America is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect to join our Data & Analytics team at our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. This position offers the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely, allowing you to collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that best supports your needs, your customers, and the team. As an Enterprise Data Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing data pipelines that are essential for enabling data-driven decision-making across multiple aspects of the business. These data pipelines will be developed through multi-year efforts and will empower stakeholders to conduct rapid analyses, produce actionable insights, and address business questions that align with strategic priorities. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting data evaluations and enhancing the suite of analytical capabilities and tools available to the organization. You will work closely with data scientists and data engineers to build and deliver data-driven business solutions, ensuring that complex business requests are understood and translated into actionable insights. Your expertise in data modeling with Big Data tools such as Spark SQL and Azure Databricks will be vital in this process. Additionally, you will evaluate and leverage emerging tools and technologies to continuously improve our data architecture and capabilities. Collaboration within an agile framework will be key to your success in this position, as you will need to effectively partner with various stakeholders to achieve common goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data pipelines
  • Conduct data modeling with Big Data tools like Spark SQL and Azure Databricks
  • Understand and translate complex business requests to deliver actionable insights

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Data Management area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Data Management area
  • Experience in data interrogation, data profiling, or data modeling

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong commercial insurance knowledge and experience
  • Experience in scripting languages including Python, R, Java, Scala
  • Experience with Big Data tools like Spark SQL, Databricks
  • Strong knowledge and experience in data modeling techniques and best practices
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing data pipelines using ETL/ELT tools and frameworks
  • Experience with data quality management and data governance principles
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
