About the position

The Enterprise Data Architect at The Hartford is responsible for defining enterprise architecture patterns and standards related to the flow of enterprise data, supporting use cases in analytics, data science, and AI. This role involves collaboration with data architects and engineers to identify capabilities, consult on data solutions, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data integration, management, and cloud migration, contributing to the enterprise roadmap for data architecture and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key liaison between data solution architecture teams and other enterprise architecture functions.
  • Define architecture approaches for secure, reliable, and scalable digital and data solutions.
  • Author reusable solution architecture patterns and reference architecture documents for data flows.
  • Facilitate engineers in finding and implementing approved solution patterns.
  • Engage in communities of practice to promote the adoption of reusable solution patterns.
  • Define solutions to maximize investments in enterprise data platforms and minimize complexity.
  • Research industry trends to identify emerging technology trends for evaluation.
  • Provide thought leadership on data platform capabilities to enable understanding of use case possibilities.
  • Partner with Data Engineering teams for technology tooling and platform evaluations.
  • Assess the current state of data and technology landscape to identify gaps and contribute to future state vision.
  • Provide SME input to architectural decisions.
  • Demonstrate data platform capabilities in the context of use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting and delivering data solutions in a large enterprise, preferably in insurance or financial services.
  • Prior experience with large-scale data integration and management platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Snowflake, ETL tools, and modern data integration practices.
  • Experience with Agile and SCRUM methodologies.
  • Negotiation skills and ability to influence others.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with migration of legacy data solutions to cloud is a plus.
  • Knowledge of holistic enterprise architecture components and frameworks.
  • Expert knowledge of computing architectures.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with architects and engineers.
