About the position

The Enterprise Data Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing data governance strategies for a public sector client based in Portland, OR. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to establish technical visions, perform software development duties, and support existing systems and applications. The position is a contract-to-hire opportunity, fully remote, and requires extensive experience in data governance and SQL.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with SMEs and PMs to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
  • Serve as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams.
  • Support colleagues in learning and sharing information regarding business software planning and development issues.
  • Perform software or applications development duties, including technical coding design and interface design.
  • Create work breakdown structures (WBS) and set system configurations.
  • Provide technical support and software development for integrated enterprise applications such as PeopleSoft and data warehousing.
  • Design, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications throughout production lifecycles.
  • Work with users to prototype, test, and validate the functionality of developed applications.
  • Participate in and support existing systems, applications, and databases by responding to user requests.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair bugs and malfunctions on production systems.
  • Assist in developing and tracking project work plans and provide communications on project timelines and status.
  • Perform feasibility analysis, GAP analysis, and build requirement diagrams.
  • Test solutions for functionality, performance, reliability, and compatibility with legacy systems.
  • Document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as an Enterprise Data Architect specializing in data governance.
  • Extensive knowledge of data governance principles and frameworks.
  • Skilled in sourcing, extracting, and cleaning data using SQL.
  • Reporting expertise in Power BI.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-wide data and ERP data structures.
