About the position

Markwins Beauty Brands is seeking a seasoned and motivated Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) Analyst to facilitate the development and implementation of our data protection and data quality standards across the enterprise. The EDG will address data capture, accuracy, and process standardization around enterprise data. This role is crucial for ensuring effective management of data assets through data optimization, Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), and delivery of consistent and trusted data, negating any redundancies. The EDG team will ensure a single version of customer and product data exists across all Markwins operating environments, focusing on adherence to compliance, faster decision-making, and seamless information across channels. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role responsible for ensuring all master data is accurate, complete, and consistent across the enterprise. The Analyst will drive the development of policies and procedures in concert with our process owners and governance teams. The team will conduct audits, perform analysis, and recommend and implement improvements. This role will support new product development projects and provide ongoing guidance throughout the master data lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide Data Governance activities in partnership with business leads, data domain subject matter experts, data stewards, and technical experts throughout IT and BI.
  • Guide and execute our Data Governance strategic framework, consolidating ongoing data governance efforts into a cohesive go-forward data governance operating model.
  • Promote, advocate, collaborate, and train data stewards and business leads throughout the enterprise on deploying data governance best practices within their data domains and systems of record.
  • Manage Data Governance project-related activities, initiatives, and project intake by prioritizing initiatives that add value to the organization through pragmatic data management, improved analytical capabilities, enhanced data quality, and improved data integrity.
  • Guide data engineers and BI developers surrounding security, sharing, and access rules for sensitive data; create approval processes for accessing sensitive data by partnering with data domain leads.
  • Develop documentation, policies and procedures, data dictionary, data glossary, data catalog, and other metadata management activities.
  • Translate enterprise strategies into data governance priorities in partnership with data domain leads.
  • Manage new data projects by defining high-level business cases, documenting requirements, tracking project statuses, and prioritizing projects within each domain (and overall).
  • Translate business requirements into actionable technical requirements for BI team developers and engineers.
  • Prioritize and address any issues with data quality and data integrity in conjunction with data domain stakeholders and IT/BI technical experts.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science such as Information Technology, Information Systems, or similar.
  • 5+ years' experience in data governance or applicable area of expertise.
  • Effective collaborator with BI team, extended IT team, and cross-functional data domain stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence others and champion Data Governance best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Driven and confident self-starter who can take the initiative.
  • Matrix management skills with the ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong project management leadership, and ability to prioritize projects.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, and/or core systems master data management.
  • Item UOM conversions and attribute data experience required.
  • UPC, GS1 data loads, and relevant industry knowledge.
  • Process mapping and analysis.
  • Familiarity with SQL, ETL, SSIS, SSRS, business intelligence, databases, BI reporting tools, and processes.
  • Basic data analytics skills: data cleansing strategies, data mining, conversions, and delivery.
  • Ability to access, navigate, export, and wrangle data for simple analysis & review (Excel, Power BI, reporting portals).
